Welcome to Profibasketball.de

International basketball has become a crazy and often shady business. Profibasketball.de offers a rare good in these hostile surroundings: Honesty. I do not want to sell any dreams to my athletes but want to keep their dreams alive. I never make promises - too much depends on luck and being in the right place at the right time to make any guarantees. I cannot perform miracles. All I can do is work my butt off to put players in solid and reliable situations so that they can work their butts off to advance and move up the ranks.

I only started agent work in 2006 placing my first player in Austria more or less coincidentally. I neglected numerous more "traditional" options such as becoming a teacher which I was trained for or working as a journalist because basketball is what I really wanted to do. Still being a one-man-operation I now entertain solid relationships with more than two hundred teams and colleges from all over the world ranging from the highest level (for example NBA scouts and Euroleague organisations) to small-town teams in lower divisions. I have placed players in "traditional" basketball countries in Europe but also in more exotic places like Japan or Morocco. Speaking English and French fluently greatly enhances my possibilities of international communication. I also worked as a free-lance writer for Germany's major basketball mag FORWARD and for the globally known basketball website Eurobasket which puts me in a supreme position to market my players.

Of course I had my share of screw-ups but I believe if you talk to players and teams that worked with me the positive experiences outweigh the negative ones. I do not "strangle" my clients with contracts containing tons of clauses and stipulations. In return I expect my clients to appreciate their freedom and to treat me and my work as respectfully as I treat them. I might not be the toughest negotiator on this planet and I am surely not the smartest but there is one thing that sets Profibasketball.de apart from other agencies: True Love for the Beautiful Game of Basketball. I never get tired of watching basketball on all levels and I willingly stay up all night following an apparently meaningless minor league game for that one spin move...that one rejection...that one huge dunk that lets me know that it's worth it. If you know what I am talking about you should maybe think about joining Profibasketball.de

Sincerely
Matthias Haufer
